Quote     Ignatius of Loyola

"Teach thee, Good Lord, to serve thee as thou deservest; to give and not to count the cost; to fight and not to heed the wounds; to toil and not to seek for rest; to labor and not to ask for any reward save that of knowing that we do Thy will."

History Tidbit:    Born October 1491, Gipuzkoa, Basque Country, Crown of Castille

Ignatius was a Spanish Basque theologian, writer, priest and founder of the religious Society of Jesuits. In 1548 he recorded Spiritual Exercises which included meditations, prayers and other mental exercises; the key for understanding his spiritual excises were found in his autobiography. He sent missionaries throughout Europe to create seminaries, colleges and schools that duplicated the successful Jesuit College in Messina that he had founded.
