Reigniting the Internal Flame

I've heard it said that keeping my internal flame lit is important to my spiritual life. But many times I've found myself pondering over the various ways to keep those less-flamed, barely flickering lights not only stoked but lit altogether.  This in itself led me to the realization that the lack in my spiritual health provided the quickest descent into negative thoughts which cause my perceptions to shift.

A house divided can not stand. Or, should I say a house divided may be able to stand but not with complete accurate stability.  Although, I want my house to be stable and strong, the analogy being my spirit within my body, I recognized many times it was on a cracked foundation, leaning framework or just all together built wrong.  Repair was the mode of operation I'd find myself in more times than not.  Overtime, I realized its okay, I'm only human and one of the most important jobs is to be an active spiritual carpenter.

When I'd begin to allow more of God's presence into my life, his spirit-infused fuel would cause what was once a barely survivable flicker into a gentle, increasing flame emanating from the inside out.  Addressing my thoughts and mindset was always the first step of this type of spiritual carpentry but always worth my time and effort.  Those initial steps cleared my mind to build or reconnect with my Creator.  Who from the beginning designed not only me, but all of us to be engulfed in His presence as we navigate through the variances within ouselves.
